About

Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is open for anyone to join, subject to the normal formalities.

The club is based on east coast of Suffolk where the River Deben meets the North Sea. THe club offers sailing in both sheltered and open waters at all times of the tide for dinghies, catamrans, windsurfers and kitesurfers. The club site has two dinghy parks, outboard/tender storage, parking and two launching sites. Our two storey club house has a class room, meeting room, hot showers, large bar and a professionally catered galley. Disabled facilities are being installed early 2016 with further refurbishment being carried out later in the year.

Sail Area

The club sails on the mouth of the river Deben which gives a choice of sailing out at sea or up the river. Launching is possible at any state of the tide either infront of the club or on the public slipway on the road. The Deben is perfect for exploring with many creeks and pubs along the way. The bar is a challenging obstacle for those heading out to sea.

Racing

Racing takes place on Wednesday Evenings each week throughout the season with Saturday Afternoon racing taking place once a month. There are several special events that take place each year such as the FFSC Regatta and the Long Distance Race. Racing is free for all club members and temporary membership is available to allow visiting sailors to race. More info on our racing page.

Racing Classes

Sailors at FFSC have a variety of different classes which are covered under slow hanidcap and catamaran classes. Currently the most popular classes are Dart 18s, Laser 2000s, Laser Ones, Dart 16s and Sprint 15s. In the past the club has been strongly associated with Fireflies and 505s.

Yachting and Cruising

Our club has a very active cruising section with several cruises planned throughout the year. These cruises explore the local area and also take our members further afield to Holland. Many of our members go further afield and keep us up to date with their trips.
