Club Dinghy Hire

Club boats are available to hire for those who complete a competency assessment. The club now has 8 boats which are available for members to hire throughout the year.

The Assessment Process

Complete a Hire Agreement Form.  A member of the sailing committee will book an assessment with you before sign off. The approval you receive will be based on your experience and level of competence and will allow you to sail in one of three ways:

  1. Sailing with Club Safety
  2. Sailing solo up river
  3. Sailing solo up river and at sea

Booking a Club Boat

A boat is booked using the diary which is kept in the club entrance hall. Private hire is by the half day and are charged at £10 for single handers (Laser One) and £20 for double handers (Laser 2000, Dart 16, Fireball, Wayfarer) per half day. You can book a maximum of seven days in advance, unless prior agreement is given by one of the organisers. Nominally the morning will be from 09.00 – 13.00 and the afternoon from 13.00 – 17.00.

Club events such as Club Training, Sailing in Company, racing are subject to a 50% discount.

You should pay the hire fee over the bar or post the fee into the club letter box using one of the envelopes provided, noting your name, date of hire, boat you have used and the amount you are paying.

Reporting Issues & Damage

Damage found prior to use or caused during use should be reported using the Damage Report Form as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment for others.
