Saturday Afternoon saw the club once again open for RYA Push The Boat Out. Club members were at the doors welcoming in members of the public for free sailing taster sessions. Many people had made bookings but a greater number arrived on the day.
Forecast a week before was looking dire however on the day it was a manageable 13 gusting 19 knots with sunshine throughout the day.
Six boats were afloat made up of 3 Wayfarers, the club Laser 2000 and two club Dart 16s for the more adventurous sailors. Joshua from Treasured Cinematics was on hand to take many photos of the event but also to go sailing himself.
In all we ran 33 sessions which saw 57 people go afloat many of which went twice making for over 60 people sessions!
Many thanks to Andy Robinson, Donald Sloan, Paul Williams, Paul Smith, Simon Clover and Bob James for sailing all afternoon (and morning) and to the safety boat crews who did a great job hot swapping sailors out on the water.
The next free sailing event will be the club open day (including BBQ & Pimms) on July the 30th. Keep an eye out for more news! All photos from the event are on our club facebook page. For those interested in learning how to sail please check out the training centre pages of the website and for those looking to join and get stuck in check out the membership page.
