Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is based on the mouth of the River Deben in Suffolk, England. This location offers sailing in sheltered and open waters at all times of the tide for sailors, windsurfers and kitesurfers. The club site has two dinghy parks, outboard/tender storage, parking and two launching sites. Our two storey club house has a large bar, professionally catered galley and changing rooms with hot showers. The club has a good size cruising section too. The Training Centre is adjacent to the club house and offers sailing and powerboat training throughout the year.

Sailing Area

Dinghy sailing takes place either up river or out to sea depending on conditions. Launching is possible at any state of the tide either in front of the club or on the public slipway accessed via the road. The Deben is perfect for exploring with many creeks and pubs along the way. The sandbank on the entrance to the river is a challenging obstacle for those heading out to sea.

Dinghy racing takes place on Wednesday evenings each week throughout the season with additional special events throughout the year such as the New Years Day Race, Easter Day Race and Long Distance Race. Racing is free for all club members and temporary membership is available to allow visiting sailors to race. Find out more about racing and join in.

The most popular classes raced are Lasers, Dart 18s, RS400’s, Laser 2000, Dart 16s and Sprint 15s. In the past the club has been strongly associated with Fireflies and 505s. More information can be found by contacting our Class Captains.

Yachting and Cruising

We have a very active cruising section with several cruises planned throughout the year. These cruises explore the local area and also take our members further afield to Holland. Many of our members go further afield and keep us up to date with their trips. More information can be found by contacting our Yacht Captain.
