Message from your General Committee

Your Club is opening up.
We have been socially distancing sailing and racing for some time now  and many people have indicated it would be good to be able to use the bar and food services again.
So we are proposing a limited opening of the club facilities.

The deep clean has been completed and considerable hard work has been carried out by our few volunteers.

We understand many club members want to use the clubhouse again for Food and Drinks. We have talked with the members who have been around the club or who have informed the committee of their wishes. There is wide variation in what people tell us they want. However we have to work within the Government guidelines and ensure the Clubhouse is safe for all, those socially isolating and others who appear not to be too concerned.

For this reason we have adopted a 2.0m distancing regime and one-way system. We will have a receptionist who will have to record details of people entering for use by track and trace. Personal details will be kept for 21 days and then destroyed to ensure we comply with PII and GDPR requirements.

Under the guidelines this puts the inside accommodation to under 40 in tables of no more than 6 people and these should be people from the family household or bubble and one other bubble. For the time being we can only accept club members.

Sadly we will not be able to accommodate people sitting at the bar. Members will have to sit at specific spaced tables and order drink and food and take them to the tables themselves using the one-way system.

The changing rooms and showers will be out of action. However the downstairs toilets will be available on a one-at-a-time basis with users sanitising before and after use. We have developed processes for toilet cleaning which are displayed in each toilet.

One key thing, the membership has requested that we sell real ale and lager and not bottled beers. We have ordered initial stock of both which will be ready for serving at the weekend.

We are trialling the system at the end of the week and if successful we will be opening on Sunday lunchtime for the afternoon. If this is successful we will be opening on the Wednesday evenings & Sunday lunchtimes initially. We ask you to pay for your drinks via CARD wherever possible.
The Galley will be open with a limited menu and payments are CASH ONLY.

To conform to the guidelines and cleaning regimes we will have 72 hours between openings, obviating additional cleaning requirements.

We have a view to getting back to normal as soon as we are able but are mindful of complying with Government guidelines, East Suffolk Council, Police and our Insurers requirements.

The club will be a different place until we can get back to normal but the club has never been so fantasticly clean and I hope we can say a big thank you to the volunteers, by turning up and using the club again.

If it does not work initially we will have to modify the arrangements within the guidelines and try and provide what you wish for.

Feedback to the general committee would be appreciated so we can provide what you the membership want.

Keep safe

Message from General committee

We still looking for the following posts to be filled. We need volunteers to help run and manage aspects of the Club.

There are five ways we need your help.
Three positions where people take responsibility for certain aspects of running the club, general help with opening the bar and a permanent position.

Bar Committee Chairman – Volunteer position.
The responsibilities will include chairing the small Bar Committee and overseeing the administration and management of the bar and staff. Initially this will be with volunteer and some paid staff until the bar can be viable for us to employ a Bar Steward. This will be a Voluntary position initially and will require liaison with the experienced bar persons and with help from members skilled in technical support activities for the bar services.

Bar Server – Part time employees.
This position is to serve the drinks to the members by taking orders, preparing the
drinks, placing them on a tray for the members to take from the bar to their table. Payment will be taken by card.
The bar person will not be handling anything other than drinks. They will be supported by a
volunteer member Bar Server Assistant.
Please reply to this email for further details of hours and salary.

Bar Server Assistants – Volunteer position
These will be volunteer members who directly support the Bar server. They will greet members and supervise entry to the club, direct members to sanitization station, record members names in the entry log and direct members to the bar ordering and table areas.

Professional Bar Services Manager – Part time/Full time employee
When the time comes that we can employ a Professional Bar Services Manager. We would appreciate knowing of any member who has the skill and qualifications to carry out the job on a paid basis. If no person registers an interest, when the time comes we will go through the normal channels for employing a suitably qualified person.
Please reply to this email for further details of hours and salary.

Social Secretary – Volunteer position
To arrange social events for the club, throughout the year. Job description available upon request. It would be really good to get some fresh ideas either in the club or online.
