Dinghy Cruises and SiC

Sailing in Company

Usually held on Saturday afternoons, Sailing in Company aims to encourage all club members to get afloat and have fun, together. Sailors can bring their own boats or sail hired club boats. Often we venture down to the pier for cold drinks or to the dip for ice cream, it’s just a casual opportunity for sailors to meet and go sailing with like minded people and have fun on the water.

Dinghy Cruises

The club runs dinghy cruises which are an extended sail to a destination and back, sometimes with a stop on the way, this could be up the river or out to sea and along the coast. Club boat hire is available or you can bring your own boat. The person(s) running the session will decide the direction and timing of the cruise usually based around the tides and will also establish the experience of the group to plan the trip accordingly.

  • The event dates & times will be published on the club website and in the newsletters.
  • Family and single sailors welcome.
  • Each sailor wishing to hire a club boat will need to be signed off by the Sailing committee prior to going out and hold an RYA Level 2 certificate, this qualification can be gained with our Training Centre.
  • Club boats are available to hire to members, priced at £10 for a double handed boat and £5 for a single handed boat.
  • If you would like personal training, an instructor can be made available through the Training Centre, at an additional cost of £45.
  • If you are a beginner, please contact sailing@ffsc.co.uk and they can arrange someone for you to sail with.
  • You can be out sailing for a few hours so water and appropriate clothing is necessary.
